Born and raised in Massachusetts, Anthony Eric Cartwright AKA “Antec”, blends his raw Boston influences with his personal life lessons leveraged by his small town upbringing hailing from the gateways of Cape Cod. Growing up in the late 80s Antec was Influenced by “Golden Age” Hip Hop icons like: Parliament, Kurtis Blow, Biz Markie & Nas. Legendary artists like Jay Z, DMX, Snoop Dogg & Southern Hip Hop duo Outkast, where always in his heavy rotation of music inspiring him to ponder the possibility of a rap career.
As a young teenager, he spent his adolescent years living in Tampa, Florida in a single parent home. As a young newcomer to the rap game, Antec spent his high school years articulating and cultivating a hidden talent later to be discovered as a gift! Built like a baller with a missed opportunity, Antec took the home court advantage setting his goals on a new discovered passion and fueled ambition which would later set him apart — taking his Southern roots back to Boston. As an opportunist chasing his dreams, he mapped out a new landscape creating a sound and style uniquely of his own. Vowing not to follow trends he developed his own personal style with infectious beats and hooks spitting his collage of sounds and lyrically unique rhymes with a vengeance!
Thinking forward to his next move, he left his past behind without looking back releasing his debut single “Don’t Look Back” featuring DKO, a self motivated anthem keeping him moving ahead and chasing his dreams. The single received accolades for its beat and sampling byTasha at shebloggin— praising Antec’s potential to make a name for himself. He began showcasing his skills, performing at Cyphers and winning open mic poetry flow competitions & showcases at Boston’s most prominent Hip Hop venues. Keeping the grind and putting in the work, Antec followed up with singles “What Would I Do”, “It’s My Time” & “No More Sleeping”, the hit single featured on his debut EP, Mind of Antec, and released as his his first official music video. Antec continues to break barriers while creating opportunities and pushing the limits destined for success in the unremitting evolving world of Hip Hop!
